The research facilities of the International Institute of Translational Medicine are modern laboratories equipped with modern equipment necessary for conducting basic research. Properly prepared veterinary facilities along with equipped offices and stables enable in vivo tests to be conducted both on small animals (mice, rabbits, sheep) and large animals (horses). The research is carried out in accordance with the requirements of Good Clinical Veterinary Practice by qualified and experienced staff.
Molecular biology laboratory
The laboratory is equipped with the equipment necessary to conduct genetic and molecular tests, including:
- Real-Time PCR thermal cycler (qRT-PCR)
- set for visualization and archiving of gels (ChemiDoc Imaging System)
- Cooled fume hood
- Light microscope
- Water deionizer
- NanoDrop spectrophotometer
- Ion-exchange chromatograph for protein purification
Stem cell laboratory
The laboratory is equipped with a laminar chamber necessary for cell culture. The devices are used for laboratory work in sterile conditions. There is a laminar flow (layered, undisturbed) of sterile air, which has previously been filtered by the so-called HEPA filter (high-efficiency solid air pollutant filter). There are also incubators in the laboratory that ensure optimal, reproducible growth conditions for cell cultures. Cell observation is possible thanks to a specialized light microscope.
The basic equipment of the microbiological laboratory is a large autoclave used for sterilization of tools, buffers, plastic consumables and the disposal of contaminated material. The equipment also includes a sterilization dryer, as well as shakers enabling deep cultivation of microorganisms in liquid media. Small laboratory equipment and a homogenizer complete the entire laboratory, which makes it possible to develop formulations and conduct microbiological cultures.
The equipment of the prototype laboratory includes, among others, a pellet mill and a freeze dryer, enabling the production of feed additives and animal supplements. The damage cooler enables the proper preparation of a freeze-dried substrate, e.g. in the production of freeze-dried probiotics. Thanks to the homogenizer, we are able to design micellar formulations and produce advanced products whose active ingredient is closed in small bubbles with extended release time. The facilities of the prototype laboratory allow for the production of innovative supplements, feed additives and gels on a laboratory scale.
The treatment room is primarily a surgical table. Appropriate equipment enables the patient to be properly anesthetized and to monitor his health (anesthetic equipment). Well-developed surgical facilities allow for biopsy, gastroscopy, endoscopy and electrocardiography, among others. The ultrasound equipment enables constant control of the structure and appearance of organs during or after the procedure. For larger animals such as a horse, we guarantee a special anesthetic box. Modern eye correction treatments are enabled by devices such as an ophthalmoscope.
